Why youth these day are confused about their future?

Why youth these day are confused about their future?

I have a tendency to ask people what their future plan is, for my own reference. And, as a result I have discovered that, many of my close friends are quite confused about their future. Even some the people I have worked with in the past, were terribly unhappy with their jobs.
so, i have been searching for the answer of why there are so many confused youths these days?

Characteristics of the developed countries:

first of all ,I want to compare the situation of Bangladesh and many other countries which have the similar situation. In the west and many developed countries, even in a Asian country like japan , before you finish high school you need to fill out you career decision form , where you need to answer a bunch of questions like, what is your field of interest , what profession would you prefer and stuff like that . Then after that, before you graduate you will have a career counseling session with your teacher. Then, the teacher will suggest you some career paths. You can talk to your family and friends about it and then you can decide on your career path.

Why we are confused:

Comparing it with my experience, when I graduated from High school (12TH GRADE), the choice was mine. I had to figure out everything by myself. My parents weren’t that much well informed about career paths. They only know, engineering/ Medical. In addition to that , i had no family member who had a good knowledge in this topic So, there were many possibilities of me taking a wrong step. I had to choose my future with my own instinct.
This situation goes for many youth in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and many other countries. We have little knowledge about what our future is going to be or what it could have been. Folks these days are working in a desk being miserable from morning till evening doing something they aren’t satisfied with. Students in their last year are confused about what jobs should they search for, what skills should they learn. Some even say that, they are worthless.

What’s the solution?

We need Career Counseling system in our countries. Students should get a proper career counseling before they graduate from each stage of education, for example: a session after they finish 8th grade , 10th grade  and finally before the graduate(12th grade) from high school. This might not eradicate the whole problem, but, the situation will be better. Our youth at least won’t be confused.
